For this sweet selection box we chose the following products:
IGP Provence lavender honey
A honey known for its delicacy and its inevitably recognizable fragrance. It is the most popular honey from the region. And for good reason! Our lavender fields are unique and very appreciated by bees. They have worked hard and are sharing the fruits of their labor with you.
Ingredients: lavender honey, origin Vidauban, Provence, France, under Protected Geographical Indication. Jar of 250 g.
Soft vanilla nougat, EPV label
This is the traditional white nougat, softer than black nougat. It represents the white penitents in the thirteen Christmas desserts. With a light vanilla aroma, it is soft and fine at the same time, without too much sugar, just the right amount. Everyone who has tasted it has loved it as a fine and delicate confectionery.
Ingredients: Sugar, almonds, glucose syrup, honey, egg white, pistachios, unleavened bread (potato starch, water), natural vanilla flavor 0.42%. Box of 100 g.
Soft hazelnut nougat, EPV label
This time, it is a slightly more innovative version that our confectioner-creator has made. The hazelnut replaces the almonds here, and the nougat is delicately flavoured with a hint of coffee. To be discovered with delight!
Ingredients: sugar, hazelnuts 21%, glucose syrup, honey, natural coffee flavouring, egg whites, unleavened bread (potato starch, water). 100 g box.
Hard almond nougat, EPV label
A specialty widely consumed by the Provencals during the holidays, black or white nougat is made from honey. This black nougat, hard as it should be, is cut into pieces and put in papillotes to eat it more easily in one or two bites per piece. It’s delicious and crunchy, it’s the version where the almond takes the most importance in the recipe. It symbolizes the black penitents in the 13 traditional desserts of Provence.
Ingredients: almonds, cane sugar, honey, glucose, unleavened bread (potato starch, water), pistachio 3.33%, vanillin. Box of 100 g.
These products may contain traces of dried fruits other than those mentioned above, of gluten.
The honey of Provence
Natural product par excellence, the honey is elaborated by foraging bees from the nectar which they take on the flowers of their environment. It’s a curiosity of the nature, because it is the only product known today that is rot-proof and non-perishable.
More than 2000 years old honey was found that was still edible. But honey consumption by man is much older. Honey has healing and antibacterial properties.
Provence honey is a highly sought-after product as its taste quality and its beneficial properties are known throughout the world. Honey from Provence is also a Protected Geographical Indication, validated by a label. Without this label, it is theoretically impossible to sell a honey called ‘de Provence’, even if this honey has been harvested in the region.
Its particularity is linked to the terroir and a very rich Mediterranean flora, with plant species loaded with essential oils (lavender, rosemary, thyme, etc ...).
