A craft utensil

This pitcher is shaped in glazed terracotta by a potter in accordance with the techniques of the ancient pottery of Vallauris. This tradition is centuries old in the city : culinary ceramics was its main activity since the 16th century. It’s now much rarer for the benefit of art ceramic initiated by Picasso.

This French pitcher will seduce you every day on your table by its simple and authentic shape.

3 sizes available

Small, medium or large pitcher, you will choose the capacity according to the use. The capacity of 0.4 liters is suitable for example for a milk pitcher or a small wine pitcher. The volume of 1 liter 1/4 will rather serve as a water jug, and the intermediate pitcher to serve wine.

This handmade pottery is so pretty that you may also choose the large size as a juice pitcher. And why not be tempted by the set of 3 to decorate a fireplace or a kitchen corner?

About kitchen pottery

This pitcher is intended for table use, but in the kitchen, we offer a large choice of traditional culinary pottery. It comes from the same workshop and includes utensils to compose a whole battery: saucepans, skillets, casseroles and gratin dishes.

But above all, do not miss the typical Provencal containers: daubiere, tian and pan-shaped toupin: they are adorable!

Instructions for use

Before the first use of your culinary pottery, it is recommended to soak it in water all night and let it dry before use.
Then, rub the surface with garlic and let rest for at least 5 hours. After this, you may wash the pottery as usual, and cook in it.
No culinary piece of earthenware can be directly put on fire or flames or any cooktop without being exposed to crackle and even destruction.
It is strongly recommended to put a simmer mat under your pottery which will allow a better heat distribution and a longer life for your pot.
Furthermore, do not put an empty pot on a cooking fire. Also, never cool the pottery suddenly after taking out of fire, never take a dish out of the freezer and put in the oven straight away. It could produce a dramatic thermal shock and considerably alter your pottery.
Thanks to these advises, you will discover again the basic taste of your recipes in this natural earthenware, and enjoy the pleasure of good cuisine.
